American Whippet Club National Specialy 2010
Another great year at the National! Kingston (Can Ch Summit Ironwood Kingston) goes 3rd in his Futurity Class and 4th in the 12-18 class. His brother Blaine (Summit Ironwood Blaine) took 2nd in Futurity. Both Blaine and the third brother Tigg (Summit Ironwood Everett) made the cut in regular classes as well. Our latest addition, our 6 month old puppy Ellie (Camelot Elegant Lady at Summit) was 4th in her Futurity class and aunt Penny (Ch Summit Ironwood Orange Marmalade) made the cut in the specials ring. We are so proud!

Ducky (AmCan Ch Summit Ironwood Just Ducky JC) makes her AKC lure coursing debut with a splash! Not only was she high-score FTE, but she came home with a 1st place 5 point major towards her field championship. Go duck go!
Tigg (Summit Ironwood Everett) is the first to be AKC pointed from our 2009 Jasper x Dazzle litter! Big congrats to co-owners Randy & Camala Bailey!

Can CH Summit Ironwood Brier goes reserve to a major at her first AKC show in Monroe, WA. Her brother Can CH Summit Ironwood Kingston goes 2nd in a very large open dog class at only 7.5 months!

HOT NEWS > What a weekend for Ironwood!!! We brought three of our 2009 puppies to Canada's largest dogshow for thier second weekend of their show careers... we came home with two new champions and three puppy hound group wins! We are thrilled to say the least :)

Puppies from both our Bella x Kurt litter and our Dazzle x Jasper litter have a spectacular debut their first weekend in the show ring at almost 6.5 months old!!
Summit Ironwood Kingston "Kingston" was WD/BOW/BOB/BPIB and made the cut in the group (3 points), Summit Ironwood Brier "Molly" was WB/BOW/BOB/BPIB/Hound Group 2/BPIG (5 points!), Summit Ironwood Other Sutherland "Kiefer" was WD/BOS (2 points) and WD/BOW/BOB/BPIB (2 points). Summit Ironwood Farrahst Of Them All "Farrah" was RWD to a major in California as well. We couldn't be more proud of the kids and their accomplishments :)

Both girls are back at home now, and we are thrilled to confirm that Dazzle is pregnant!! We hope to be able to palpate Bella by the end of the week, but it's a bit early to tell with her quite yet.

We are planning to fly Bella and Dazzle back home next Monday. We can't wait to see them.. the girls have had wonderful vacations with Linda and Rosemarie, but we sure have missed them!
Also, we are excited to have Ducky- Am Ch Summit Ironwoood Just Ducky come to Canada to finish her Canadian Championship with us over the spring!

Our sincere condolences go out to Deann Christianson on the loss of Davis- Multi BIS SBIS Am Braz, Urug, South Afr, Int, South Amer, Americas and Carribe Ch Chelsea Long Kiss Goddnight, FCh ROMX. Davis had a tremendous impact on our breed, producing many notable offspring who were not only top showdogs, but talented athletes as well. We are very proud to have both a Davis daughter (Bella) and grandaughter (Dora) who share many the the qualities that made Davis a truly special whippet.

Ironwood had an impressive weekend at the Western Washington Whippet Association Specialty! On Friday under breeder judge Joetta Melton, Summit Ironwood Decadence picked up his first AKC points with a 4-point major by going winners dog and making the cut in the breed ring. His sister Emily was RWB. Dazzle took an award of merit while her sister Lucy won the breed. Saturday under esteemed judge Bo Bengston brought an award of merit for Bella and a second WWWA BOB for Dazzle! Annie, AmCan Ch Summit Some Days Are Diamonds won best veteran. On Sunday Summit Ironwood Just Ducky was RWB under George Bell.

Apparently our Cybil X Remi girls are ready to hit the ring in earnest now! Ducky (Summit Ironwood Just Ducky) blew us away with a 5 point major at the regional specialty in Oklahoma in an entry of 35+ bitches. Her sister Emily (Summit Ironwood Creme Brulee) took a 3-point major in California under Judge Mr Luc Boileau. Way to go girls!

Am/Can Ch Summit Some Days Are Diamionds took 4th in 7-10 veteran bitch sweeps.
